CVE-2024-7885Network attack vector

Service interruption via shared proxy parser state

Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2026

Race condition in Undertow before 2.2.36.Final and 2.3.0.Alpha1 through 2.3.16.Final allows remote attackers to interrupt service. ProxyProtocolReadListener keeps one StringBuilder as object state, so concurrent parseProxyProtocolV1 calls append to and read from shared request data. The flaw is reachable when PROXY protocol v1 parsing handles multiple requests on one HTTP connection; it primarily causes parser errors and connection termination, while stale values cross request boundaries.
