Stored XSS via forged administrator settings request
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored XSS in Simple Headline Rotator 1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts by forging an administrator request. The options handler at wp-admin/options-general.php?page=head_rot_options accepts slider_width without a CSRF nonce check, sanitization, or output escaping, causing the supplied value to be stored and rendered as markup. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open attacker-controlled content that silently submits the crafted settings form; the resulting script executes in visitors' browsers.
