CVE-2024-7847

Code execution via auto-running embedded VBA

Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2024

Code execution in all versions of Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5, 500, and Micro products allows attackers to run code through a malicious project file. The applications run an embedded VBA script configured for automatic execution when an RSP or RSS project opens without verifying its authenticity. Exploitation requires a legitimate user to open the crafted file, and resulting code execution can also affect connected controllers.
