CVE-2024-7831Network attack vector

Remote memory corruption via oversized path parameter

Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Buffer overflow in photocenter_mgr.cgi on 20 D-Link NAS and NVR models allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through a crafted path. The cgi_get_cooliris function processes the path argument without enforcing destination-buffer bounds, overflowing memory in the CGI process. Published assessments disagree on whether authentication is required, and public evidence does not establish whether the referenced proof of concept causes a crash or code execution.
