Remote code execution via unchecked photo name copy
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Buffer overflow in D-Link NAS and NVR appliances through 20240814 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted request. The cgi_move_photo function in /cgi-bin/photocenter_mgr.cgi copies the photo_name request value without enforcing the destination buffer's bounds. Access to the affected CGI operation is required; successful exploitation can corrupt memory, crash the service, or run code on the appliance.
