Authenticated memory corruption via unchecked current_path copy
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Buffer overflow in D-Link NAS and NVR firmware version 20240814 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via an HTTP request. The cgi_del_photo handler in /cgi-bin/photocenter_mgr.cgi copies an oversized current_path query value without checking the destination buffer capacity. The attacker must authenticate to the web interface; public evidence demonstrates memory corruption but does not document a confirmed post-overflow outcome.
