Stored XSS via forged settings update
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored XSS in Adeel Raza Gixaw Chat 1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser via CSRF. The WordPress admin settings handler accepts a cross-site POST to admin.php?page=gixaw-chat/gixaw-chat.php and stores the unsanitized chat-name value without output escaping. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open attacker-controlled HTML, after which the injected script runs in that administrator's browser context.
