Authenticated arbitrary file upload via missing validation
Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Bit Apps File Manager 6.5.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary server files. The upload function accepts file content without enforcing a safe file-type restriction before elFinder writes it into a configured WordPress directory. Subscriber-level access is sufficient only when an administrator has granted upload permission; executable uploads can lead to code execution.
