Authenticated file disclosure via unsanitized download paths
Published Aug 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024
Path traversal in Progress WS_FTP Server before 8.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files through Web Transfer. The FileHandler module uses a user-supplied download path in file operations without validating that the resolved path remains under the account's host root. Exploitation requires a valid account and is limited to files on the drive containing that host root, which is C: by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
