OpenAI key disclosure via client-side exposure
Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Sensitive-data disclosure in AI ChatBot with ChatGPT and Content Generator before 2.1.0 allows remote attackers to obtain the OpenAI API key. In 2.0.8 and 2.0.9, the public ays_chatgpt_admin_ajax response places the configured secret in base64-encoded dataObj. Earlier builds send the key from the visitor's browser in the OpenAI Authorization header; exploitation requires a configured, functional chatbot and exposes that credential.
