CVE-2024-7700

Command execution via unneutralized package-installation input

Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Command injection in the Host Init Config template in Foreman and Red Hat Satellite 6 allows attackers to execute commands during host registration. The Register Host page inserts the Install Packages value into generated shell instructions without neutralizing command syntax. An elevated Foreman user must plant the payload, and a second user must run the generated registration script on a host, where the injected commands execute.
