Code execution via malformed DWFX heap overwrite
Published Sep 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in dwfcore.dll in Autodesk Navisworks 2022 through 2025 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted DWFX file. The DWFX parser in dwfcore.dll writes beyond a heap buffer while processing attacker-controlled file content, corrupting adjacent memory. A user must open the file; exploitation runs code in the current process or crashes that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
