SYSTEM code execution via symlink-following service
Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 19, 2024
Privilege escalation in Ivanti Secure Access Client before 22.7R4 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through a symbolic link. The Pulse Secure Service follows an attacker-created symbolic link and uses its SYSTEM context to create a file at the link target. Low-privileged code execution on a Windows endpoint is required; successful exploitation grants arbitrary code execution as SYSTEM.
