Subscriber-level arbitrary file upload via unchecked AJAX action
Published Aug 23, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in File Manager Pro 8.3.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write files to the WordPress server. The mk_file_folder_manager AJAX action accepts upload content without enforcing file-type validation or a capability check. Subscriber-level access reaches the action, and an uploaded server-executable file can result in code execution within the site context.
