CVE-2024-7553

Local privilege escalation via untrusted file loading

Published Aug 7, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2024

Improper access control in MongoDB Server and its C and PHP drivers allows local users to gain privileges through untrusted files on Windows. MongoDB has not disclosed the loading component or validation error; affected processes load attacker-controlled files from a local untrusted directory. A local user must place files in that directory and induce user interaction, after which the application executes behavior determined by those files.
