CVE-2024-7541Known exploitation

Stack-data disclosure via uninitialized AT+CMT buffer

Published Aug 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Information disclosure in oFono 1.34 allows local users with modem code execution to read stack data through crafted AT+CMT responses. The at_cmt_notify parser decodes modem-supplied SMS hex into an uninitialized 176-byte pdu stack buffer, then processes bytes left unwritten by decoding. Exploitation requires code execution on the target modem; disclosed process memory can support a separate chain to execute code as root.
