CVE-2024-7529Network attack vector

Unauthorized permission grants via date-picker prompt overlay

Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2024

UI misrepresentation in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR, and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to obtain permissions via crafted web content. The date picker renders over part of a security prompt, obscuring critical permission context while a malicious site solicits approval. Exploitation requires user interaction; Thunderbird mail reading disables scripting, limiting exposure to browser-like contexts.
