CVE-2024-7516

Session hijacking via disabled strict host-key checking

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024

SSH authentication failure in Brocade Fabric OS before 9.2.2 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to hijack sessions via forged host keys. Fabric OS leaves StrictHostKeyChecking disabled for switch-initiated SSH operations, accepting an impersonated server instead of rejecting its host key. Exploitation requires a network foothold and a rogue or compromised service server when an administrator starts an operation, exposing credentials and enabling firmware, configuration, certificate, or support-data interception or substitution.
