Authenticated code execution via inverted extension validation
Published Aug 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in itsourcecode Placement Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code. The resume_upload.php extension check resets uploadOk to 1 when fileToUpload is not an allowed image type, so a PHP webshell is accepted as a resume. A valid application session is required, after which the uploaded script executes with the web server process privileges and can read, alter, or interrupt application data.
