Administrator browser script execution via nav_sub reflection
Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024
Reflected XSS in Shield Security before 20.0.6 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in an administrator's browser. The WordPress admin page reflects the nav_sub query parameter without sanitization or output escaping, and the request lacks a CSRF nonce. Exploitation requires a high-privilege user to open a crafted plugin-admin link; resulting script runs with that user's site origin and privileges.
