SYSTEM code execution via writable DLL path

DLL search-path hijacking in NoMachine Server 8.11.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM on Windows. Overly broad permissions on C:\ProgramData\NoMachine\nxserver let an unprivileged user plant a DLL that nxnode.exe loads from that directory. Low-privileged code execution on the host is required, after which the planted DLL runs with SYSTEM privileges.
