SYSTEM code execution via symbolic-link file deletion
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper link resolution in cmdagent in Comodo Internet Security 12.2.4.8032 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. cmdagent follows an attacker-created symbolic link while performing a privileged file deletion, allowing a chosen file to be removed. Low-privileged code execution on the Windows host is required; deletion of a security-sensitive file enables local privilege escalation.
