SYSTEM code execution via symbolic-link file deletion
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Link following in cmdagent in Comodo Firewall 12.2.2.8012 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM. The privileged cmdagent executable follows an attacker-created symbolic link when deleting a file, redirecting deletion to an attacker-chosen path. Low-privileged code execution on the Windows host is required, after which the attacker can gain SYSTEM privileges.
