SYSTEM code execution via symbolic-link file creation
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
Link following in F-Secure Total 19.2 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through the WithSecure plugin hosting service. The service follows an attacker-created symbolic link when creating a file, redirecting the privileged write to an attacker-chosen location. Exploitation requires an administrator to interact with the application, after which attacker-controlled code runs with SYSTEM privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
