Authenticated code execution via unbounded password decoding
Published Jul 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Buffer overflow in TOTOLINK CA300-PoE 6.2c.884 allows remote authenticated users to crash the device or execute code via a crafted password. The loginauth function in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi passes the password POST value to passwordTrans, which copies decoded bytes without bounding the destination buffer. A valid session cookie is required; the public proof of concept sends an oversized password to the loginAuth topic.
