CVE-2024-7212Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated memory corruption via unchecked password copy

Published Jul 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

A buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A7000R 9.1.0u.6268_B20220504 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via a crafted password. The loginauth handler in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi copies the password argument without enforcing the destination buffer's size, causing an out-of-bounds write. Low-privilege access is required; public records do not establish whether exploitation yields code execution or only a process crash.
