Authenticated code execution via oversized module filename
Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3600R 4.1.2cu.5182_B20201102 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted File value. UploadCustomModule in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi handles the File request-body field without enforcing the destination buffer's capacity, allowing an oversized value to overwrite adjacent memory. Access to the authenticated management interface is required, and successful exploitation can execute code or crash the router.
