CVE-2024-7048Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-user file disclosure and overwrite via missing authorization

Published Oct 10, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2025

Incorrect authorization in Open WebUI 0.3.8 allows remote authenticated users to read admin file metadata and overwrite admin files. The document-list and RAG document endpoints fail to enforce file ownership or administrative authorization before returning metadata or replacing stored content. A non-admin account is required; exploitation exposes admin document metadata and can corrupt RAG inputs or interrupt dependent model use.
