Stored XSS via unescaped dfiFeatured attribute value
Published Sep 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Ankit Pokhrel Dynamic Featured Image 3.7.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via dfiFeatured. The get_featured_box method interpolates stored featured-image data into a single-quoted hidden-input value without attribute escaping, so a crafted value becomes executable markup. Contributor-level access is required to save the payload, and execution occurs in the affected WordPress site's origin when another user opens the injected page.
