Unauthenticated file disclosure via SOAP external entities
Published Aug 7, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024
XML external entity injection in Journyx 11.5.4 allows remote attackers to read local files through unauthenticated SOAP requests. The /jtcgi/soap_cgi.pyc handler passes request bodies to SOAPpy's xml.sax parser, whose external-entity features remain enabled in bundled Python 3.6. No credentials are required; a crafted entity used as the changeUserPassword username is resolved and reflected, enabling file disclosure, server-side requests, or resource exhaustion.
