CVE-2024-6871

SYSTEM code execution via writable autostart folders

Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024

Incorrect permissions in G DATA Total Security 25.5.15.21 allow local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM via autostart tasks. The autostart-task handler assigns overly permissive access to folders, allowing low-privileged code to alter content used by a privileged startup path. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on the endpoint and results in SYSTEM-level control.
