SMTP configuration overwrite via unchecked admin request
Published Sep 8, 2024 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
CSRF in WP MultiTasking – WP Utilities through 0.1.12 allows remote attackers to alter SMTP settings through an administrator's browser. The wpmt_smtp administration endpoint accepts POSTed sender, host, port, username, password, transport, and save fields without any CSRF check. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open attacker-controlled HTML, after which the forged request overwrites the plugin's outbound mail configuration.
