Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Sep 7, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in maxsdesign Preloader Plus 2.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through SVG uploads. The plugin accepts SVG image content without sufficient input sanitization and serves it without sufficient output escaping, preserving attacker-controlled script in the uploaded file. Author-level access is required, and the script runs when a user opens the uploaded SVG, enabling actions or data access in that user's browser context.
