Stored XSS via unchecked decoded image MIME
Published Jul 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in BoldGrid Post and Page Builder 1.26.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via uploaded SVG files. The boldgrid_canvas_image AJAX handler writes decoded base64 data using a caller-supplied extension without validating the content's actual MIME type. Contributor-level access and a valid nonce are required; the script runs when a user opens the stored SVG in a browser.
