Stored XSS via unescaped chatbot error logs
Published Aug 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Stored XSS in Webdigit Chatbot with ChatGPT WordPress before 2.4.5 allows remote attackers to run scripts in an administrator’s browser. The retrieve-prompt REST route accepts question and conversation fields and stores them without sanitizing or escaping their HTML before the Error Logs page renders them. No account is required, but an active OpenAI API key and an administrator opening SmartSearch WP Error Logs are required to trigger the payload.
