Unauthenticated API-key disclosure via setup endpoint
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Missing authentication in AnythingLLM before 1.0.2 allows remote attackers to read search-provider API keys via /api/setup-complete. The endpoint invokes currentSettings without authentication, and that function returned raw search-provider secrets instead of presence-only booleans. Any network-reachable instance exposes configured search credentials without an account or user interaction; the grounded impact is secret disclosure, not data modification or service interruption.
