CVE-2024-6826Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service outage via unchecked XML manifest size

Published Oct 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 24, 2024

Denial of service in affected GitLab CE/EE versions allows remote authenticated users to crash Puma via a crafted XML import manifest. The Gitlab::ManifestImport::Manifest initializer passes the uploaded file directly to Nokogiri::XML without checking its size, so DOM parsing can exhaust memory. Manifest import must be enabled and a signed-in user must submit the file; memory exhaustion can stop Puma web service nodes and interrupt access.
