Code execution via WSQ parser buffer overwrite
Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in IrfanView 4.67 with WSQ plugin 2024.02.16 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted WSQ file. The WSQ parser inadequately validates file-controlled data before writing it, permitting a write past the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and code runs in the context of the current process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
