Unauthenticated code execution via remote Python templates
Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024
Improper authorization in the Kovid Goyal calibre Content Server 6.9.0 through 7.14.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The /cdb/cmd/list route passes user-controlled template arguments to cmd_list.implementation(), whose formatter evaluates python-prefixed templates as Python code. The default Content Server configuration has authentication disabled; unauthenticated network access is sufficient, while authenticated access requires a privileged account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
