Arbitrary file read via unchecked export path
Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Path traversal in the calibre Content server 7.14.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary UTF-8-compatible files. The /cdb/cmd/export handler passes a request-supplied relative path to copy_extra_file_to(), which joins and opens it without confirming that it remains under the selected book directory. The Content server must be reachable with a valid book ID; default-disabled authentication permits unauthenticated access.
