Administrator account takeover via email normalization mismatch
Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Jul 31, 2024
Authentication bypass in Cozmoslabs Profile Builder before 3.11.9 allows remote attackers to assume an administrator's session. The registration check queries the supplied email without normalization, but the automatic-login path trims and sanitizes that same value before selecting a user and issuing its authentication cookie. The Login after registration option must be enabled; a registration email padded with spaces can therefore resolve to an existing administrator during automatic login.
