CVE-2024-6689Public exploit

SYSTEM command execution via exposed MSI repair

Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Privilege escalation in baramundi Management Agent 23.1.172.0 and earlier allows local users to run commands as SYSTEM via MSI repair. The installer exposes its repair function to unprivileged users, and the resulting conhost.exe window can be frozen so its properties dialog launches a browser and then cmd.exe in the installer's SYSTEM context. Local low-privileged access and precise interaction with the repair window are required; successful exploitation grants full SYSTEM control.
