Protection disablement via planted startup symlink
Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
ESET Cyber Security before 7.5.74.0 and Endpoint Security for macOS before 8.0.7200.0 allow local users to cause a service interrupt. The startup path accepts a low-privilege user's symbolic link at a security-product file location, so the product fails to start properly. Code execution under a low-privilege logged-in account is required; successful exploitation disables ESET protection and causes general system slowdown.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
