Full-screen lockout via captured Escape keypresses
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2025
Improper event handling in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 128 allows remote attackers to trap users in full-screen content. Repeated form-validation popups consume Escape key events before the full-screen handler can process them; the patched handler exits after two rapid Escape keyup events. A user must enter full-screen mode and load attacker-controlled content; desktop users retain the ability to close the offending tab.
