CVE-2024-6596Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via embedded C# scripts

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Code injection in Endress+Hauser Echo Curve Viewer 5.2.2.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands through .curves files. The viewer extracts device-specific .cs calculation scripts from a curve archive and executes their C# code without authenticating or validating it. A crafted file must reach the viewer and be opened in an affected package, after which the code runs with the current user's access to data and system functions.
