Cross-account preset modification via unchecked user assignment
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated May 19, 2025
Authorization bypass in Directus 10.13.0 allows remote authenticated users to assign their presets to another user's account. The PATCH /presets/{id} handler accepts a replacement user identifier without applying the ownership validation enforced when presets are created. A nonadministrative default-role account can alter another user's rendered preset configuration; account takeover requires chaining with stored XSS.
