CVE-2024-6476

System privilege escalation via redirected file deletion

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024

Privilege escalation in AXIS Camera Station Pro before 6.4 and AXIS Camera Station before 5.57.33556 allows local users to gain system privileges. A non-admin user redirects a service-managed file deletion so the privileged service removes an attacker-chosen path when it restarts. The attack requires low-privileged local access, control of the deletion redirection, and a service restart; Axis has withheld further mechanism details.
