Unauthenticated PHP execution via template path traversal
Published Aug 17, 2024 · Updated Sep 13, 2024
Local file inclusion in Webangon News Element before 1.0.6 allows remote attackers to execute server-side PHP via the template parameter. The khobish_filter_tax AJAX action accepts traversal in xlxtra_data[template] and includes the selected PHP file without confining resolution to the plugin template directory. Elementor must be installed, and exploitation requires a nonce exposed by an Elementor page or post containing a widget; execution is limited to PHP files already present on the server.
