CVE-2024-6446Network attack vector

OAuth consent spoofing via global hostname replacement

Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 13, 2024

Business logic error in GitLab allows remote authenticated users to spoof an OAuth application's trusted redirect domain with a crafted URL. The OAuth authorization trust-screen template parses the redirect URI host, then globally removes every “www.” substring rather than only a leading label. An attacker must register an OAuth application and persuade an authenticated victim to open the authorization URL and approve access, exposing the victim's granted account data.
