Unauthenticated account takeover via weak API-key verification
Published Jul 11, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in InstaWP Connect 0.1.0.44 and earlier allows remote attackers to log in as any existing WordPress user. The auto-login path accepts a supplied username after insufficient API-key verification, then establishes that user's WordPress session. Knowledge of an existing username is required; selecting an administrator account grants administrative access and related site-management capabilities.
